Safety Coordinator (5/1/12)
Summary:
The Safety Health and Environmental Management Standard (SHEMS) Implementation Leader is responsible for the coordination of SHEMS development and Mount Vernon Site implementation. The SHEMS Implementation Leader is the project leader for SHEMS implementation at the Mount Vernon Site. This assignment will require a minimum of three (3) years work assignment commitment.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Lead the implementation of SHEMS at the Mount Vernon Site to achieve Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) objectives and targets; coordinates with SABIC Corporate Control to seek clarification on SHEMS requirements.
- Use project management tools to develop an implementation schedule, track agreed upon metrics, and report progress to the SHEMS Sponsor and SHEMS Committee. Assist SHEMS Element Administrators to conduct gap analysis and development of action plans.
- Maintain records of the management system documentation, SHEMS Audit Protocol, SHEMS Committee meeting minutes, etc. Coordinate SHE reports to be submitted to SABIC Corporate Control as required by each SHEMS Element.
- Facilitate meetings and other activities of the SHEMS Committee, which is chaired by the Site Manager and includes members of the Site Leadership Team who serve as SHEMS Element Administrators.
- Monitor activities of ongoing SHEMS program to achieve the approved EHSS objectives and targets.
- Create alignment and consistency between site work processes, methodologies and enablers, existing legacy EHSS policies/procedures, and SHEMS across Mount Vernon operations. Facilitate standardization and integration to provide a consistent application of SHEMS.
The site is located in Mt. Vernon, IN, just west of Evansville, IN.
Qualifications/Requirements
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project management in a manufacturing process industry.

The Safety Director is responsible for developing, directing, and communicating plant-wide safety and security initiatives.
